Maastricht University (UM) in the Netherlands offers the NL-High Potential Scholarship to outstanding students from outside the European Union (EU) who have been admitted to a master’s programme at the university. The scholarship aims to support talented students by covering tuition fees and living expenses throughout the academic programme.

Scholarship Benefits and Funding
- Living expenses: €15,925 (for 13 months) or €30,625 (for 25 months).
- Health & Liability Insurance: €700.
- Visa and Residence Permit Costs: Fully covered.
- Tuition Fees: Fully covered.
- Pre-Academic Training Costs: Fully covered.
- International Student Ambassador Program (ISAP): Costs covered for the first block only.
Eligibility Criteria
- Hold nationality from a country outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, or Suriname.
- Have applied for admission to an eligible master’s program at Maastricht University for the 2025-2026 academic year.
- Be no older than 35 years on 1 September 2025.
- Have a GPA of at least 7.5 out of 10 or equivalent.
- Have not previously participated in a degree-seeking program in the Netherlands.

Application Process
Step 1: Apply for a Participating Master’s Program at Maastricht University
For details on how to apply for a master’s program at Maastricht University (UM), please visit the webpage of the program you wish to join. After submitting your application via Studielink, you will receive a student ID number from the university. You will need this number to complete and submit the scholarship application form (see Step 2 below).
Important Notes：
- Only the master’s programs listed above are eligible for the UM NL-High Potential Scholarship.
- You must first apply for a master’s program at Maastricht University to receive your student ID number. Once you have this number, you can apply for the scholarship. However, you must meet all admission requirements for the master’s program (except legal residence) before the scholarship deadline. Please note that the program application deadline may differ from the scholarship deadline.
- If your study program requires a handling fee as part of the admissions process, the UM International Services Desk does not cover these fees. You are responsible for paying any handling fees required by the program before 1 February 2025. To check whether your program requires a handling fee, please visit the programmer’s webpage under the "Admission Requirements" section.
- You must provide an official document from your home university showing your most recent GPA, along with a document explaining your grading system. Applications with a GPA below 7.5 out of 10 or equivalent (75% out of 100% or 3 out of 4, depending on the grading system) will not be accepted.
